Butt Hinges

General Information:

Fixed pin hinges should be used on exterior opening doors or security doors.

Hinge sizes are measure by:
  1. Height of the hinge is the length of the leave
  2. Width of the hinge is the lenght of the fully opened measurement across both leaves
  3. The guage of the hinge is the thickness of the material used
Hinges per Door
  • It is recommended that an average doors up to 2040mm in height requires only two (2) hinges per door.
  • Up to 2340mm doors require three (3) hinges
  • Over 2340mm up to 3050mm require 4 hinges
 Note:  Doors that receive heavy use or are installed with door closers, where the conditions put the hinges under more stress, it is recommended that an additional hinge be used
